I finished “The Count of Monte Cristo”. At the end of the book there is a letter the Count writes to Morrell/Maximillian, that reads: “This is the whole secret of my behavior towards you: there is neither happiness nor misfortune in this world, there is merely the comparison between one state and another, nothing more. Only someone who has suffered the deepest misfortune is capable of experiencing the heights of felicity. Maximilian, you must needs have wished to die to know how good it is to live.”
What a wonderful message. I can see why this book has lived on as such a classic piece of literature. I fear for a generation addicted to multimedia where literature gives way to movies and entertainment value moral meaning.

When I got back from work I checked my emails and there was an email from Bennie Joe, that said Sixers were concerned that they wouldn’t get pardons. He confirmed that the supporters would be there through the process. He mentioned appealing based on government entrapment. It kind of triggered me. Did he hear something?…Anyways, I tried calling you because it made John and I both really nervous…We watched the news tonight. The news was a lot about the United Healthcare killer, Luigi. Then a second story about Daniel Penny, the subway hero. Probably 50% of the news cycle was dominated by that. I find when there is a dominant story in the news cycle, that is the moment politicians or government would do something while everyone is distracted by the smoke screen issues. I don’t think they cause the crisis, but they never fail to take advantage of one. When I did the podcast and there was a story that soaked up all the oxygen, I’d pay it homage but would often try and cover all the other stuff.
So, I guess that Matt Gates is going to be an anchor for OANN News. I thought I would see him pop up somewhere in government, a non-senate position, but being on OANN will probably be good for him and also raise the profile of OANN, which has was doing great until they covered Matt DePerno in Michigan, showing Dominion machines flipping votes. They lost their satellite and cable contracts. Michelle Rion was also traveling with Rudy Guiliani to Ukraine, they were basically the only real news game and it cost them big.
We just talked on the phone… you told me about Caleb and Joe staying the night with Obi and Jed’s That’s pretty fun. You had emailed me and said that you saw nothing online that made you worried. I think that is really a good sign…
