Thoughts on the Debate 9/11/2024

September 11, 2024

I am pretty bored right now, we are locked in again today, apparently all day, or so we are being told.  Everyone is standing in the hall waiting to go down and get lunch trays.  Of course communication with inmates is not a priority, it’s really not expected to be any other way. (I drafted this message because while writing it, lunch came).

I listened to Glen Beck this morning and Clay and Buck right now.  They don’t think Trump did that well last night, that is not how I feel at all, part of the problem I think is they are in a little echo chamber.

I miss you, very bored today,

Love,

Taylor

Marie,
Today is super boring, we are still stuck inside, not sure if we get to go out this evening or not. I am under the impression we will be eating dinner in our unit…but who knows. I hope your day is going great. I am disappointed by the response of the pundits on radio today. I guess the debate had pretty low viewership for what they expected. That probably isn’t a bad thing, it means most people have probably already made up their decision. Top media markets for viewership were Pittsburg, Philadelphia, N. Carolina and Georgia, with West Palm beach thrown in there. Figures, the swing states are all politically active.

I heard a guy say today, if white, non college educated voters voted, Oregon would flip hard red. I believe that, those are the peasants, the people who have to make this place run, the ones who have to live here. We need a peasants perspective more now then ever.

I love you, miss you a lot, very bored today.

Love you,
Taylor

Marie,
I got two photo packs from you, thank you so much, they are so fun. I love all the pictures– I am going to go look at them again.

Love,
Taylor

Taylor,

I think the pundits judge it on technical stuff. To me it was not surprising at all- you had a well polished politician with all the sob stories and empty promises and Donald Trump, and everything that goes with him. I thought they were very much both themselves. I think the general population is decided, like you said.

Love, Marie

Marie,

I agree, I think the pundits are in a little echo chamber and have high/low expectations for the two of them that are out of touch with normal people. They think they know what a swing voter is…but they really don’t. These swing voters are unicorns, and they don’t vote on feels. They put on their big boy pants for one day a year and decide who they want to lead them. Leadership is visceral. It’s not going to be won by someone given to hysterics and emotional faces.

I love you, miss you so much.

Love,
Taylor
