The high cost of nothing 8/26/2024

Marie,
So last night, the commissary funds hadn’t posted, and this morning, right at 6am when I could log in they still hadn’t posted. The way Monday mornings work is at 6am they have breakfast call and people with black tag facility passes can go get in line for commissary. If you don’t want to wait hours, you literally have to RUSH down to commissary line, which I dutifully do every Monday morning. This morning, I logged in at 6am sharp, to see if they posted, and they hadn’t. I got up from the computer and made the mad dash down to the line. I figured I would adjust my purchases down while I was in line….but, after the mad dash, the guards decided they didn’t want us lining up right then, and told us to go back to the housing unit, or to chow…I choose chow, because I am hip to their tricks and knew they would open the line ,since in 20 minutes they start selling. When I got to line after my muffin, I was about 1 hour back in it. I adjusted my order, stood in a line, listened to inmates talk about absolute nonsense the whole time and just generally endured it. When I got to submit my order and purchase my reduced order, the receipt showed that the deposit had posted after all…

This can happen, and I knew it was a possibility. Keep the full order, and run the risk of them cutting me off, or reduce and at least know I would get the essentials. I chose the latter.

I feel bad. I know I made you rush last night. We burned an extra minute with the extra call to tell you. I slept bad fretting about it. I rushed this morning, had the whole guard delay which could have afforded me the opportunity to recheck funds in the unit, but choose not too. And in the end, I got a bare minimum order and there is no commissary for two weeks…

I feel like that was a high cost for nothing….

Sorry to make you rush last night, it’s my fault for waiting so long to say something.

Love,
Taylor
